Blakeman to Run for NY Governor, Stefanik Campaign Responds

Bruce Blakeman, a Republican county official from Long Island, is set to announce his gubernatorial campaign on Tuesday, potentially sparking a competitive primary against U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik, another Trump ally. Blakemans tenure as Nassau County executive has been marked by controversial policies, including restrictions on transgender athletes and collaboration with federal authorities on immigration enforcement. Stefaniks campaign spokesperson has already criticized Blakemans decision to run, suggesting it may benefit Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul. Hochul, a moderate Democrat, is also facing a primary challenge from her lieutenant governor, Antonio Delgado. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city.
