Artist Auctions Kryptos Solution
Episode
On November twelfth, artist Jim Sanborn is auctioning off his Kryptos archive to solve a decades-old CIA mystery. The ten-foot-tall copper sculpture, featuring coded messages, has three solved messages, but the fourth, K4, remains uncracked for thirty-five years. Sanborn, now seventy-nine, hopes to find a new Kryptos keeper through the auction, which ends on November twentieth. The archive includes everything needed to solve K4 and an alternate paragraph, K5, along with original coding charts. Despite a setback when Sanborns scrambled texts were discovered, the auction continues, with the current top bid at $201,841. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network.
