MH6 – Where Are We Going? – Magnificent Humanity for the Discerning Heart – Discerning Hearts Podcasts

Magnificent Humanity for the Discerning Heart A 30-Day Journey with Pope Leo XIV’s Magnifica Humanitas Episode 6: Where Are We Going? In this episode of Magnificent Humanity for the Discerning Heart, we reflect on Pope Leo XIV’s call for shared discernment in the face of rapid cultural and technological change. The Holy Father invites us to look beneath the surface of constant emergencies, daily pressures, and social transformation, so we can ask what is shaping the human heart. Pope Leo XIV warns that, when we live only from one crisis to the next, we can lose sight of the direction of our lives. The urgent can begin to rule over the important. A person can be busy, informed, anxious, and spiritually disoriented without ever asking where the heart is being led. Through the light of Psalm 86:11, this reflection invites us to pray, “Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth.” A discerning heart pauses before reacting, asks what spirit is moving within, and chooses the path that leads toward truth, charity, peace, and the dignity of every person. Citations Selection from Magnifica Humanitas Pope Leo XIV, Magnifica Humanitas, Introduction, no. 5: “For this reason it is necessary to begin a shared discernment process for identifying the spiritual and cultural roots of ongoing transformations. If we focus only on contingencies, we risk letting the succession of emergencies dictate the direction of our path… For this very reason, crucial questions impose themselves on our conscience and can no longer be avoided: Where are we going? Toward what goal do we wish to orient ourselves? What direction should we choose as a people and as a human community?” Psalm 86:11, RSV–Catholic Edition
