Atlas of Customized TMJ-Cranio-Jaw Prosthesis: Managing Temporomandibular Joint Disorders

From Dentistry Made Simple Dentistry Made Simple

A comprehensive overview of modern surgical techniques for managing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. This medical text details the transition from standard stock implants to patient-specific, 3D-printed prostheses that allow for higher precision in complex facial reconstructions. The source outlines several clinical applications, including total joint replacement, combined TMJ-skull base reconstructions, and simultaneous orthognathic surgery. By utilizing virtual surgical planning and digital cutting guides, the authors demonstrate how to improve patient outcomes while reducing surgical trauma and operating time. The atlas also highlights the evolution of biomaterials and the collaborative research efforts within the Chinese medical community to innovate in the field of maxillofacial surgery. It serves as both a historical record and a forward-looking guide for treating extensive lesions and congenital deformities of the jaw.
