FLAVOR TEXT: The History of Dubstep and Disciple Records

Dubstep is one of those genres that, too many, feels like it simply showed up. But, contrary to popular belief, dubstep has one of the most interesting histories in all of music! Sure, most people heard dubstep for the first time when Skrillex came on the scene in 2011, but the roots of the genre go all the way back to 1940s Jamaica! Come along as we WUBWUBWUB our way through history from Jamaican independence through prolific dubstep music label, Disciple Records.

This week's FT! was commissioned by our patron Zhakhix! This is the 10th FLAVOR TEXT they've commissioned and we are eternally grateful! You can commission your own Flavor Text right now at patreon.com/debatethiscast. We'll record an audio book report on whatever you want.
