Dec 19: Crypto Shake-Up: Binance's Billions, Do Kwon's Dodge, Warren's War, and Solana's Slip

This week in the cryptocurrency world has been eventful, with several major developments. Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has agreed to a $2.7 billion settlement with the CFTC, with its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, personally paying a $150 million fine. In legal arenas, Do Kwon, the controversial figure behind Terraform Labs, has successfully appealed against his extradition in Montenegro. Politically, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is taking a firm stand against blockchain lobbying efforts, signaling increased regulatory scrutiny. The security of crypto platforms remains a concern, as demonstrated by the recent $830K exploit in Solana’s Aurory game, leading to the disabling of the Arbitrum bridge. Meanwhile, the investment landscape is seeing new developments with Bitwise launching an innovative Bitcoin ETF ad campaign featuring "The Most Interesting Man in the World." Lastly, the Bitcoin network is experiencing surging fees, primarily driven by the growing popularity of "ordinal" inscriptions.
