South Africa vs Australia 2nd Test: Day 3 Review 'Bavuma Bashes Aussies'
South Africa produced a remarkable turnaround on Day 3 in Gqeberha, recovering from 5/97 to declare at 9/425 and put Australia under enormous pressure in the second Test. Captain Temba Bavuma led the charge with a superb 179, while Marco Jansen's counterattacking 85 and Simon Harmer's 82 helped turn the match on its head. Scott Boland claimed another five-wicket haul, but Australia's bowlers struggled as the pitch flattened out. A late dismissal of Nic Maddinson left Australia at 1/3 at stumps. Menners reviews South Africa's extraordinary fightback, Australia's missed opportunities in the field, and why the draw is now the most likely result. With a crucial day four ahead, Australia's batters have a chance to rebuild confidence, eat into the deficit and give their bowlers a much-needed rest ahead of the third Test.
