Video Game Industry Layoffs are Just DARWINISM.
The AAA video game industry is "right-sizing," and a lot of people won't make the cut. We talk about backlash to Gears of War: E-Day and how it's just indicative of the industry as a whole right now. Meanwhile, Capcom is going to streamline its staff by giving them more AI tools to work with. The future of gaming is LIGHT on budget and light on staff. And only the people who contribute to MAKING things will likely move onto whatever happens next. Yes, it's cold and it's brutal and it's mean... but the AAA western gaming industry is NOT sustainable as-is. And we sure as hell want have dozens of "narrative consultants" working on most titles in the future.
