Delpit On Defense’s Comeback | Cleveland Browns News

Browns safety Grant Delpit is brutally honest about the defense’s shaky Week 1 performance, calling it “not pretty” and blaming early-season jitters. Now that they’ve gotten their feet wet, he says the unit is starting to play faster and more comfortably in the scheme. Facing the Buccaneers again, Delpit knows Baker Mayfield’s struggles — three fumbles against the Bengals — and vows to disrupt him by forcing turnovers. He admits the defense didn’t do enough to pressure Trevor Lawrence last time, citing poor pass rush and coverage lapses. But Delpit remains confident in his teammates’ ability to improve quickly, especially since they haven’t played together much yet. He’s determined to turn the page on Week 1’s embarrassment and secure a road win with a focused, aggressive defensive game plan.
