Browns Defense Shows Promise, Needs Pressure | Cleveland Browns News

The Browns’ 2026 season opener was a brutal 34-10 loss to Jacksonville, but there were glimmers of hope on defense. Rookie standout Carson Schwesinger delivered with 10 tackles, and the run game held firm, limiting the Jaguars to under four yards per carry. New defensive end Jared Verse made an impressive debut with four stops, including a tackle for loss. Still, the unit’s biggest issue remains generating pressure—just one sack allowed all night. With Baker Mayfield looming in Week 2, the Browns’ pass rush must step up if they want to turn things around.
