Proposal To Downsize Shannon Fire Station Deferred

Plans to decrease the number of crew members at Shannon Fire Station have been deferred. Councillors had been due to approve the county's Fire & Emergency Operations Plan at this month's meeting of the county's elected representatives. Under the proposal, it's understood, the number of crew at the base would be capped at 14, with retained firefighters previously warning of serious risks if 16 crew members were not employed in Shannon. Shannon Sinn Féin TD, Donna McGettigan, is hopeful public pressure will lead to the proposal being scrapped.
