Clare Gardaí are appealing for motorists to be more alert behind the wheel as the evenings get darker and stormy conditions become more prevalent. A Garda roads policing operation came into force yesterday and will remain in place until until Tuesday, October 27th. So far this year, 29 pedestrians have been killed on Irish roads to date in 2026, representing 19% of all fatalities, with nine total fatalities occurring on Clare roads to date this year. Superintendent in the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division, Eddie Golden, has been telling Clare FM's Darragh O'Grady that motorists need to be aware of reduced visibility as the clocks go back.
