2% Of Country's Driver Youth Fatalities In Clare

New research from the Road Safety Authority is highlighting the dangers facing young drivers, particularly late at night and in the early hours of the morning. Between 2021 and 2025, 189 drivers aged between 17 and 25 were involved in fatal collisions across Ireland, with 78 of those drivers losing their lives. The report also highlights the particular risks on ordinary roads and the need for better education, enforcement, and support for young drivers. Clare accounted for 2% of fatal collisions involving young drivers during that period. So, what do these figures mean for our county, and what can be done to prevent further tragedies? Joining Derrick Lynch were PJ Ryan, former Independent councillor and Chairperson of the Clare Local Community Safety Partnership, and Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor, Clare Colleran Molloy.
