After Hours - Say Hello To My Little Film Ep. 317

It’s a brand-new month here at CAR RAYROB which means it’s time for Rob’s pick on SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FILM! He’s on a hot streak with two films in a row that Ray has loved, and he thinks he may have another on deck by recommending Martin Scorsese’s 1985 dark comedy, AFTER HOURS! This won’t be an easy layup for Ray because he is very hit and miss on Martin Scorsese, but AFTER HOURS is so far outside of his bailiwick that it just might work for Ray! AFTER HOURS stars Griffin Dunne (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, STRAIGHT TALK) as an uptown New York yuppie who goes down to SoHo in pursuit of a girl only to find himself out of his element, in an awkward situation and desperately trying to get home! With an all-star supporting cast including Rosanna Arquette (CRASH, PULP FICTION), Linda Fiorentino (MEN IN BLACK, DOGMA), John Heard (HOME ALONE, CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER), Teri Garr (ONE FROM THE HEART, MR. MOM) and Catherine O’Hera (HOME ALONE, SCHITT’S CREEK), AFTER HOURS is a darkly comedic fever dream for anyone who feels trapped in world that’s not meant for them. Will this departure from Scorsese’s schtick be enough to lure Ray into his world? Or will he still feel the trappings that make Scorsese so hit or miss for him? Tune in this week to find out!
