The Wishing Tree

A story written for a young friend's eighth birthday. The narrative details Dulcie's fantastical birthday adventure after performing a special ritual the night before. Accompanied by the magical boy Maurice, her younger brother Dicky, the maid Alice, a friend named George, and a peculiar old man named Egbert, Dulcie encounters various enchanted occurrences, including talking animals, disappearing objects, and wishes coming true. The journey culminates in a significant encounter with Saint Francis, who imparts a lesson on selfless wishes. The included publisher's note also provides context regarding the book's unique origins as a hand-typed, bound gift from Faulkner.
