The Sound and the Fury

Focusing on dialogue and internal monologues that reveal the complex and often disturbing dynamics within the Compson family, particularly concerning Benjy, Caddy, Quentin, and Jason, alongside their African-American servants. Interspersed are editorial notes, tables detailing textual differences, and an appendix outlining the Compson family history. The latter part of the document shifts to brief descriptions of other Faulkner works like Requiem for a Nun, The Mansion, Big Woods, Collected Stories, and Sanctuary, offering insight into his thematic preoccupations with the American South, racial issues, and the impact of the past. Finally, information about Vintage/Anchor Books and Vintage International provides context on the publisher and its mission to present significant literary works.
