The Orange Girl

The narrative follows fifteen-year-old Georg Røed, who discovers a hidden manuscript written by his deceased father shortly before his death eleven years prior. This "letter to the future" was concealed in an old red push-chair, acting as a literary time capsule intended for Georg to read once he reached adolescence. The story explores themes of memory and legacy, as Georg reflects on his hazy childhood recollections while reading his father’s "nailbiting" account of a mysterious figure known as the Orange Girl. Additionally, the text highlights the father's curiosity about the Hubble Space Telescope, creating a poignant connection between his past questions and Georg's current interests. Ultimately, the source sets the stage for a philosophical dialogue across time between a father and the son he never got to know.
