The New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

Outlines the author's journey from a middle-class upbringing to becoming an "economic hit man" (EHM)—a professional who allegedly defrauds countries for the benefit of corporations and wealthy families. The text describes how EHMs use debt, fraudulent reports, and other manipulative tactics to gain control over global resources, with fear being a primary driver of this system. Perkins details his involvement in projects in countries like Indonesia, Panama, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, and reflects on the ethical implications and personal toll of his work. Ultimately, the excerpt advocates for a shift from a "death economy" driven by greed and fear to a "life economy" based on sustainability, social justice, and community, encouraging individual and collective action to achieve this transformation.
