The Little Prince

From Book Shelter Book Shelter

A reflection on the disconnect between children and adults, illustrated by a narrator who abandoned art because "grown-ups" lacked imagination. After becoming a pilot, the narrator encounters a mysterious young boy in the Sahara Desert following a plane crash. This "little prince" asks for a drawing of a sheep, eventually finding satisfaction in a simple sketch of a box that requires him to use his own mind to see what is inside. Through their conversation, it is revealed that the boy traveled from a tiny, distant world known as Asteroid B-612. The narrative highlights a contrast in perspectives, suggesting that adults focus on "matters of consequence" while children grasp the essential mysteries of life. This introduction establishes the book's core themes of childlike wonder, loneliness, and the vastness of the universe.
