The Doctrine and Ritual of High Magic: A New Translation

Eliphas Lévi's Doctrine and Ritual of High Magic is a newly translated occult text exploring high magic's theoretical and practical aspects. The book's two parts cover doctrine, including the Stone of the Philosophers and the Cabala, and ritual, encompassing preparations, conjurations, and talisman creation. Lévi's work draws upon various historical sources and figures, such as Hermes Trismegistus, Paracelsus, and the Kabbalah, integrating them with his own interpretations of Christianity. The text also examines related topics, like divination, necromancy, and enchantments, offering a unique perspective on magic's place within philosophy, religion, and the natural world. A translator's note discusses the translation's methodology and qualifications.
