The Collected Works of Spinoza, Volumes I and II

This Book is a collection of excerpts from a critical edition of Baruch Spinoza's works, focusing on textual issues and interpretations. The editors meticulously compared Spinoza's original Latin texts with contemporary Dutch translations to resolve textual uncertainties, particularly concerning technical terms and the geometric method's intricacies. Discussions explore Spinoza's philosophical concepts, including his theories of knowledge, the nature of ideas (true, false, fictitious), and the relationship between mind, intellect, and will, often contrasting his views with those of Descartes. Further analysis examines Spinoza's views on God, substance, modes, and the passions, highlighting the challenges of editing and interpreting his manuscripts. Finally, the text offers a glossary of key terms and their translations.
