Mind: A Journey to the Heart of Being Human

Explores the multifaceted nature of the mind, proposing it extends beyond mere brain activity to encompass an embodied and relational process that regulates the flow of energy and information. This perspective suggests the mind is not solely confined to the skull but exists within us (our body and brain) and between us (our relationships and environment). A central theme is integration, described as the linkage of differentiated parts into a coherent whole, which is presented as the basis of mental health, leading to a "FACES" flow of harmony, flexibility, adaptiveness, coherence, energy, and stability. Conversely, impaired integration manifests as chaos or rigidity in mental states. The author also discusses the importance of subjective experience, mindsight (insight, empathy, and integration), and the interplay between "bottom-up" conduit processing (direct sensation) and "top-down" constructor processing (conceptual filtering) in shaping our perception and identity.
