The story centers on a father's desperate search for his abducted daughter, Penny, two years after her disappearance, navigating a near-future Earth ravaged by climate change, pandemics, and societal collapse. He becomes a vigilante, confronting a violent criminal underworld, including the "Kings" gang and its twisted philosophy of "King Death", who are involved in human trafficking. The excerpts highlight his emotional and physical deterioration as he seeks answers, while also revealing the broader dystopian context of a world grappling with environmental catastrophe and mass migration. The author also acknowledges various sources that inspired the novel's depiction of the future.
