Global Epidemics, Local Implications: African Immigrants and the Ebola Crisis in Dallas

This Book examines the social ramifications of the 2014 Ebola crisis in Dallas, focusing on the experiences of African immigrants. It investigates how global epidemics intersect with local communities, specifically exploring the stigmatization, fear, and blame directed towards this population following the arrival of the first Ebola case in the United States. The text also highlights the agency and resilience of the African immigrant community in Dallas, detailing their efforts to support one another, combat misinformation, and aid affected regions in West Africa. Ultimately, the work provides insights into the complex interplay of migration, disease, race, and social responses during a public health crisis.
