Doctor Sleep: A Novel

Stephen King's Doctor Sleep is a horror novel excerpt focusing on Dan Torrance, now an adult, grappling with his psychic abilities and alcoholism. The story follows Dan as he confronts the lingering trauma of the Overlook Hotel and a new threat from a group called the True Knot, who feed on the life force of "steam" from children with similar abilities. A young girl, Abra Stone, also possesses powerful psychic abilities and becomes Dan's unexpected ally in their fight against the True Knot. The narrative interweaves Dan's struggles with Abra's terrifying encounters with the True Knot, culminating in a final confrontation. The excerpt also features subplots involving supporting characters, including a poignant exploration of Dan's recovery and his connection to Abra.
