Deleuze, The Dark Precursor: Dialectic, Structure, Being

This excerpt from Deleuze, The Dark Precursor—Dialectic, Structure, Being explores the complex philosophical relationship between Gilles Deleuze's work and other thinkers, particularly those within the Scholastic and phenomenological traditions. The author examines Deleuze's concepts of structure, being, and becoming, contrasting them with the ideas of thinkers like Aquinas and Sartre. Key themes include the mind-body problem, the nature of time, and the role of immobility within Deleuze's philosophy. The text also analyzes Deleuze's engagement with cinema and literature, using the works of Pierre Klossowski and Raúl Ruiz as case studies to illustrate Deleuze's unique approach to dialectic and structure. Finally, it explores the tension between Deleuze's abstract philosophical system and its potential application to concrete political or social contexts.
