At First Sight

Focusing on their whirlwind engagement, impending marriage, and the arrival of their baby, Claire. The beginning features author acknowledgments to various agents, editors, and publishing personnel, but the majority of the content details the major life changes of Jeremy, a writer, who moves from New York City to the small town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, to be with Lexie. Their relationship is tested by their clash of cultures and life goals, Lexie's unexpected pregnancy with their daughter, and Jeremy's crippling writer's block amid financial stress from renovating their new home. Additionally, the narrative includes suspicion and arguments regarding Lexie's secretive contact with an ex-boyfriend and the discovery of a previous miscarriage, all while they navigate serious concerns about their baby's health due to an amniotic band. Finally, a flash-forward section reveals that Lexie has passed away, and Jeremy is now raising Claire, sometimes visiting Lexie's grave to keep her memory alive.
