1984 George Orwell - Nineteen Eighty-Four

These excerpts from George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, presented in Turkish, offer insights into the dystopian world he envisioned. The initial sections provide biographical information about Orwell, highlighting his experiences and literary concerns, especially his critique of totalitarianism and the manipulation of language. The text then introduces elements of the novel, such as the omnipresent telescreens, the controlling Inner Party and its figurehead Big Brother, and the enforced Two Minutes Hate. Further sections explore the protagonist Winston's defiance through keeping a diary and engaging in a forbidden love affair, alongside explanations of the Party's ideology and methods of control, including thoughtcrime and the manipulation of history through doublethink and Newspeak. The latter part of the text details Winston's eventual capture, torture, and re-education in the Ministry of Love, culminating in his complete submission to the Party and the obliteration of his independent thought and feelings, including his love for Julia.
