EP: 455 What Really Happened to the Apostles After Acts with Dr. Bryan Litfin

The Bible tells us the apostles scatter. Then it goes quiet. Dr. Bryan Litfin picks up the trail right where Acts drops it. The Liberty professor and early church expert takes Nate and Luke back into the first century to trace what actually happened to Peter, Paul, and Thomas. Peter dies in Nero's circus at the foot of what is now the Vatican, crucified upside down while Christians burn as human torches around him. Paul is beheaded outside the city walls. And in 2009, someone drilled into his sarcophagus and tested what was inside. First-century male bones. This one goes deep, and it goes weird. Handkerchiefs lowered on strings to touch a martyr's bones. Thomas walking east down the Silk Road while Paul walks west toward the end of the world. A worldview where holiness was something you could physically touch, where power moved through cloth and bone the same way it left Jesus when the woman grabbed his robe. Litfin makes the case that the early church believed the blurry stuff too, and that it was the Enlightenment that finally drained the supernatural out of the faith. The apostles left more behind than a book. This is the rest of the story.
