Man Charged with Capital Murder for Hire in Missing Person Case

A man, John Collum, is now charged with capital murder for hire in connection with the death of Oscar De Santiago Soto, escalating the case from a general homicide to one involving premeditation and financial motive. Collum allegedly concealed the crime by digging a hole, setting a truck and Sotos body on fire, and covering the hole with a backhoe. Soto was reported missing in early June and his remains were found in early July. Collum faces additional charges and is being held without bond.
