Alabama Cracks Down on Illegal Truckers

Alabama, in collaboration with federal immigration officials, is stepping up efforts to enhance highway safety. Since late October, 82 suspected undocumented immigrants and illegal truck operators have been apprehended during inspections. Governor Kay Ivey announced that ICE agents are now routinely involved in commercial vehicle enforcement. This initiative comes amidst concerns about an increase in non-English speaking commercial truck drivers, following a fatal accident involving a foreign driver who needed a Ukrainian interpreter.
