Who WON The Matthew Knies - Kirill Marchenko Blockbuster?? | BB Clips

Boomer, Pinder and Rhett react to the blockbuster between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets, with Kirill Marchenko heading to Toronto and Matthew Knies becoming the centrepiece of the return going to Columbus. The Leafs also add Elvis Merzlikins and Miles Wood, while Columbus receives Steven Lorentz, Emil Andrae and a 2027 second-round pick. Marchenko immediately signed a six-year extension carrying a $12.5 million AAV, making this an enormous commitment from Toronto. The guys break down both sides of the deal, whether Marchenko is enough of an upgrade to justify moving a 23-year-old Knies on a much cheaper long-term contract, and what this says about Toronto’s approach heading into the season. Marchenko brings another legitimate offensive weapon after putting up 67 points last season, but Knies is coming off a career-best 66-point year himself. Sportsnet.ca Did the Leafs make the right gamble, or will they eventually regret giving up Matthew Knies?
