Boomer, Pinder and Rhett go deep on the Calgary Flames in a wide-ranging conversation about where this team — and some of its most important young players — are actually headed. The guys get into Zayne Parekh looking more comfortable and ready for a bigger opportunity, before debating how much offence Calgary can generate from a forward group that still lacks high-end skill. From there, the conversation turns to Martin Pospisil, Samuel Honzek’s opportunity alongside Mikael Backlund, Jonathan Huberdeau’s eventual return and what that could mean for players like Connor Zary. They debate whether Zary can rediscover the player Calgary saw earlier in his career, what Honzek’s offensive ceiling actually is and how the Flames should develop these young players during a rebuild. And by the end of the 30-plus-minute Flames discussion… things get a little heated as the guys clash over expectations for Honzek and what Calgary should realistically expect from its young talent.
