Badlands Media Special Coverage: 10/9/26 - Columbus Day Remarks, Columbus Statues & Nessun Dorma

President Trump celebrates Columbus Day with Italian American leaders and guests, opening with tenor Christopher Macchio singing the national anthem and a chat about Luciano Pavarotti, whom Trump calls a friend. Trump says he has "resurrected" Christopher Columbus and points to the statue he put up outside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. He describes invoking a federal monuments law to stop a crowd from pulling down a statue in Washington, says the radical left wants to abolish Columbus Day, and calls for a Columbus statue to return to Columbus, Ohio. He recounts the Columbus statue dumped in Baltimore Harbor and a new one built from its pieces, and a short video traces Columbus's 1492 voyage. Trump also thanks the contractors behind the White House exterior, helipad and ballroom marble, promises a ballroom walk-through, and introduces guests including Chris Wright, Andrew Giuliani and a man he calls Frank, who he says runs Social Security. The claims about falling fuel prices, Iran and a safer Washington after the National Guard deployment are Trump's own. Macchio returns to close with Nessun Dorma.
