Badlands Media Special Coverage: 10/8/26 - New Golden Age Summit & National Medals for Tech Leaders
President Trump headlines the New Golden Age Summit and presents the National Medals of Science and of Technology and Innovation to six tech leaders. Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratzios opens with the administration's goal of "a new golden age of scientific progress." Trump then recalls his uncle, Dr. John Trump, who he says spent 52 years at MIT, worked on radar during World War II and received the National Medal of Science from Ronald Reagan in 1983. He lists what he says his administration has done for science, from ending DEI in federal science grants and setting a 2028 quantum computing goal to new small modular reactors, NASA's Artemis program and the Genesis Mission on superintelligence. In his tributes, he calls Elon Musk a modern-day Thomas Edison and praises Sergey Brin, Lisa Su and Jensen Huang, all four receiving the National Medal of Science. Honoring Michael Dell, he highlights the Dells' donation funding Trump Accounts for American children; Dell and Satya Nadella receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. A tribute video to John Trump leads into the presentation of his framed medal to the President before all six honorees take the stage.
