Alphas Make Sandwiches Ep. 87: Halloween Origins, Phone Photo Tricks & Real or Fake History

Ashe in America, Christy Lupo and Jackie Espada kick off Halloween week in costume and catch up on fall weather from Denver to the South. First up is the story behind Halloween: Stingy Jack tricking the devil and the turnip that became the jack-o'-lantern, the strange roots of bobbing for apples, and how costumes went from warding off spirits to pure fun, plus the costumes the hosts have made over the years. Then the tech tip of the week shows three ways to put the photos on your phone to work with no extra apps, from searching for text inside pictures to translating signs. The show closes with a new game, Real or Fake History, covering October 26 to November 1: the Continental Navy ship Reprisal, the Erie Canal's opening, Helena, Montana's silver strike at Last Chance Gulch and more, with chat playing along against Team Christy.
