Mahomes vs Bo Nix in Week 1? The NFL Knows What It’s Doing

The first major game of the NFL schedule release is officially out: the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football to close Week 1. What does this tell us about how the league views the AFC West heading into 2026? Patrick Mahomes is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery and Chiefs fans are expecting him to be ready for opening night. Meanwhile, Bo Nix is also expected to be fully healthy after his late-season ankle injury, setting up one of the biggest quarterback matchups of opening weekend. The NFL clearly wants Mahomes vs Nix in primetime and it says a lot about how real this rivalry has become.
