Life And How To Live It The Book Series From Chaz Holesworth
Chaz Holeworth is not a celebrity, billionaire, star athlete, or really anybody. He is not necessarily the kind of subject one reads a memoir by. But readers of his engaging series, Life And how To Live It, can’t put it down.Holesworth grew up with a rotten childhood. His father was a heroin addict and absent. His mother was a high school dropout and a weak, timid woman. His household was filled with abject poverty. Then things got worse. His mother found comfort in the Evangelical born-again Christian faith and forced him and his sister to join. He labels it a cult, one that cut them off from the secular world, and anyone who was not born-again.“It didn’t shield us from the harsh reality of being dirt-poor and the crime and drug dealers we had to deal with on our block and steps, but it did separate us from our Catholic relatives and the educational system that would have given my sister and me a better chance in life,” he says. Finally, after only knowing how bad things for both of them were while growing up, and trying to navigate life’s landmines with limited options, he rebelled at age 17 and got kicked out of school for liking rock music -- which was viewed by the church as “devil’s music.”Holesworth became separated from his sister after a falling out in his teen years because of religion. They went seven years without talking but would make amends. He was with her when she died a few years ago from cancer at age 45. Her death inspired the writing of his books.“I wrote down all of these stories – many painful, some funny – and decided to tell everything as it happened, without filters, in brutal honesty,” he says. The end product allows the reader to re-live the author’s life and to join him in his pursuit to find a meaning to life and an understanding of what happens to us, how it shapes us, and how we can still break free to live a full life.
