Veteran firearms instructor Paul Markel of Student of the Gun joins Mark Walters to explain why defensive shooting instruction must be based on evidence—not an instructor’s opinions, feelings or social-media popularity.

Drawing from four decades of firearms and tactics training, Paul introduces the principles behind Super Lab: The Application of the Scientific Method to Firearms Training. What happens if your prescription glasses are knocked off during an attack? Paul recommends safely testing your abilities without them so you understand your actual limitations before an emergency. Mark recounts his own confrontation involving two threatening individuals and describes the narrowing of attention that occurs when danger becomes real.
