White House Drops Schroyer for ICE | Anchorage News

The White House abruptly dropped Richard “Lance” Schroyer’s nomination to lead ICE — the agency central to President Biden’s deportation agenda — just as he was poised to take charge. His withdrawal comes amid growing scrutiny over ICE leadership, especially after David Venturella, a private prison veteran, took over in May following a Minneapolis scandal. With no confirmed director in 11 years and no new nominee announced, the search for ICE’s top spot is now wide open — and politically charged.
