Tyonek Grant Terminated, Housing Project Halted
On November seventh, we delve into a significant grant for the Tebughna Foundation in Tyonek, Alaska, which was tragically terminated shortly after being awarded. This twenty-million-dollar grant, initially given in February 2025, was intended for a new housing project in the village. The project aimed to create training classes for local craftsmen, teach carpentry and electrical work, and develop a solar field to reduce electrical costs. However, the grant was put into limbo in March 2025 due to a change in administration. Despite this setback, theres hope that the funds will eventually be delivered, allowing the project to be completed within three years. If successful, the next endeavor would be a cultural experience center for Tyonek. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city. Every story. AI powered.
