Thalea Headings and her fellow students at Thunder Mountain Middle School embarked on a waste audit, sorting through lunch leftovers to understand the amount of food waste generated daily. This hands-on experience, led by the Ocean Guardians club, revealed nearly three hundred and twenty pounds of food waste, all of which was diverted from the landfill for composting.
