Newly-elected Juneau school board members officially begin terms

On October 30th, the Juneau school board welcomed new members Steve Whitney, Jenny Thomas, and Melissa Cullum, while bidding farewell to long-time members Emil Mackey and Deedie Sorensen. Mackey and Sorensen, who faced a recall effort last year, were honored for their dedication and resilience. Sorensen, a former teacher, shared her recent health victory and plans for time off. The new board members quickly got to work, accepting Superintendent Frank Hauser's resignation and addressing public feedback on union contracts. DNN | The Daily News Now!
