Lancer Smith Memorial Wrestling Tournament: Alaska's Largest Event

The Lancer Smith Memorial wrestling tournament, held in Wasilla, Alaska, is the states largest event, honoring the late Lancer Smith, a pioneer of wrestling in Alaska. With twelve mats and more teams than the state championship, the tournament has grown significantly since Smiths passing in 2002. Coaches emphasize maintaining focus, despite the larger venue, to ensure athletes perform their best. The event celebrates both the sports present and Smiths enduring legacy.
