Fin Whale Found Dead on Cruise Ship | Anchorage News

A fin whale washed up dead on the bow of the Norwegian Joy cruise ship in Sitka, sparking an urgent investigation by NOAA. This isn’t the first such incident this year—just months ago, a pregnant fin whale met a similar fate on another cruise ship. Environmental advocates are outraged, calling it tragic and a betrayal of Alaska’s wild beauty, and are pushing for stricter speed limits to prevent future collisions. The ship’s speed at the time remains unknown as authorities work to uncover the full story.
