Anchorage teachers express concerns over food and behavioral programs ahead of decision to close two elementary schools

The Anchorage School District is grappling with the possibility of closing two more elementary schools, Fire Lake in Eagle River and Lake Otis in Anchorage, due to a significant decline in student enrollment since 2010. With fewer families and kids in the area, both schools are operating at less than 55% capacity. The district has already closed five schools since 2016, and officials are now considering further downsizing. The community is invited to voice their concerns at a final town hall on November 1st, as the school board is expected to make their decision by November 18th. DNN | The Daily News Now!
