Anchorage Police Shoot Armed Suspect | Anchorage News

Anchorage police faced a heart-stopping Sunday night as a gunman robbed an elderly driver, then fled in the stolen truck—only to be confronted by officers who shot him after he pointed a weapon. The suspect, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, faces charges for theft and armed confrontation. Four officers are on administrative leave while investigations unfold. This marks the eighth time Anchorage PD has fired shots this year—all involving armed suspects—and underscores the perilous choices officers face when guns are drawn.
