Alaska's SNAP Benefits Restored, State Allocates Millions
Alaska's Governor Mike Dunleavy has announced that state-funded SNAP benefits will be issued as early as this week, following the government shutdown's halt in federal SNAP funding. The state will allocate up to ten million dollars in November, with five million dedicated to loading EBT cards for SNAP benefits. The governor is also coordinating a state-led disaster public assistance program to support local food banks and pantries. However, President Trump's clarification that SNAP funding will only be covered once the shutdown ends adds uncertainty to the situation. DNN | The Daily News Now!
