Alaska Leads US in Veteran Population

Alaska boasts the highest percentage of veterans in the U.S., with nearly 8% of its population serving in the military. This figure surpasses the national average of 5%. The states military presence and retirement opportunities attract service members, contributing to its high veteran population. Over 35% of Alaskan veterans are over 65, while nearly one-third are between 35 and 54. This trend suggests a preference for rural lifestyles with natural beauty and outdoor activities among veterans. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city.
