Alaska Gets $200M for Healthcare from Federal Fund

Alaska lawmakers have approved Governor Mike Dunleavys administration to spend up to $200 million in federal funds for healthcare improvements, expected to arrive by the end of the year from a new Rural Health Transformation Fund. This fund, created by Congress through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, could bring Alaska up to $1 billion over the next five years. The Department of Health received around 400 spending ideas, with a third from healthcare providers and another third from health technology vendors and consultants. However, strict rules apply, such as no funds for new facilities, only renovations. Lawmakers expressed concerns about limited input on spending, as the fund was created after the last legislative session and will be available before the next one. DNN | The Daily News Now!
